In the current energy crisis, everyone is looking for some way to survive. Ipsen came up with his idea of hybrid furnace, where when green electricity is available, it is heated with electricity, when it is not, it is heated with hydrogen. Why not, but at the same time he says that green electricity is not available now, and green hydrogen is not available either.
And even if there was green electricity, they calculated that 62 households with solar collectors on the roof would need to be connected to one multi-purpose furnace. And even if there was hydrogen, it must not be produced from coal, nuclear or natural gas, but only from the sun or wind.
So, we build artificial barriers that we don’t even understand ourselves. However, I added that if heat treatment is to make sense, we need to get below 1 kWh/kg consumption for processing parts. Possible? Absolutely, I even think ECM Flex and similar devices can work at 0.5kWh/kg.
The only question is whether this device is capable of doing the same thing as a classic multi-purpose oven. So, I took it apart a bit and this is what I came up with. Apart from carburizing, everything will work, sometimes even better, sometimes the same or sometimes even worse, but it can be tried.
But it’s just my view….
