I celebrated May 1st in a village called Jeníkovice, where foxes seem to say good night. But that’s not the case.
The company Vibrom from Třebechovice pod Orebem, dealing with MIM technology, organized an open day here. The first impression is already very good, the newly reconstructed brownfield is a structure that completely deviates from the character of the village, but at the same time it fully fits into it. It looks like a farmhouse from the outside, but inside it is a modern, well-equipped production hall, full of the latest technology. And why did I come here to celebrate Labor Day? Because in this hall stands the first HIP device from the Swedish company Quintus in the Czech Republic.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo, it was not allowed to take pictures inside. So just an image QIH 22 taken from the company Quintus, which supplied the technology.
MIM technology parts pass through a binder removal furnace and a sintering furnace. Part of them with subsequent heat treatment. However, because for some applications it is necessary to maximize the mechanical properties, to remove possible hidden defects, part of the MIM production will undergo densification in this device for HIP technology. This applies to both metals and ceramic materials.
From my point of view, an inteligent investment step, but without it, AM technologies do not have much of a chance to establish themselves, for example, in the aviation industry or in manufacturing of critical parts.
In any case, Mr. Ivan Jebavý is a person who fully understood the future of these AM technologies, so there is no fear that the device would remain unused. Being the owner of a 3D metal printer, I would already be knocking on the door…
