The NANO system from ECM Technologies is a unique device for LPC with quenching in oil or in a gas stream up to 20 bar. And why did I like it so much?
First of all, I have always had a greater relationship with vacuum than with furnaces with a protective atmosphere. And because I have had the opportunity to experience both during my career, my relationship with NANO has multiplied even more.
But also because it actually combines up to 6 vacuum chambers for heating and LPC, with subsequent quenching in gas or oil, into one device. But because each chamber has its own temperature control, we have the possibility of having up to 6 temperatures ready in one compact unit.
So, we can quench, we can also normalize, we can anneal under tension, we can anneal recrystallization, soft, but we can also simply anneal isothermally. The fact that the batches are small, up to 100 kg, limits us in size, but not in capacity. The images show the metallographic structure of 20MnCr5 steel after isothermal annealing, magnification 500x, surface of forging and core
But since I recently did a cost analysis for a client, I was very pleasantly surprised by the electricity consumption. If we compare them with standard multi-purpose ovens, we will be moving around 30 to 50%.
And two more videos that will explain the principle and advantages of NANO in more detail.
