How to innovate in heat treatment?

In April 2023, Petr Fiala’s government approved the new EU ETS 2 emissions allowance system as part of the Fit for 55 plan at the European Council level (ETS is the European Emissions Trading System, which was approved in 2003 and has been in force since 2005). From 2027, the ETS 2 system will extend the emissions allowance system to home heating and passenger transport, i.e. to petrol, diesel, gas and coal, in addition to heavy industry and energy. The measures from the Fit for 55 package were negotiated by Petr Fiala’s government during the second Czech presidency of the Council of the European Union. In the European Parliament, a total of 340 MEPs voted in favour of the “Fit for 55” package of regulations and 279 voted against. The package includes, for example, a ban on the sale of new passenger cars with combustion engines after 2035. A gradual transition to electromobility is expected. By 2033, the use of coal, which produced almost half of the electricity in the Czech Republic in 2023, is to be stopped. The coal shortage is to be gradually replaced in the Czech Republic by nuclear energy. As part of the negotiations, relief for heating plants, the introduction of a cap for ETS2 allowances, the establishment of a Social Climate Fund and an increase in the allocations of the Modernization Fund for the Czech Republic were agreed.

So much for official reasons. In other words. We have 1 year to cancel it, or to adapt to it. I have no idea which will happen first. But since no one knows yet, there is no choice but to prepare for it. Otherwise, on January 1, 2027, we will be exposed to a new situation that will not be very pleasant. Of course, voices are being raised: that is not a problem, we will reflect it in the price of heat treatment. But is this the right theory? Probably not, but I will leave that to those who will bear this crazy burden.

ECM offers several solutions to replace old, proven solutions with new ones.
