Evžen Vyplašil is no longer with us …
Unfortunately, I learned the bad news with a great delay. Evžen scared them away after death. For those who didn’t know him, just a little look back
I have known him since 1966, when we joined SPŠ Kotlářská in Brno together. It’s been a beautiful years, maybe the best in our lives. In addition to all secondary school activities, we were also actively involved in music, Evžen was king, he achieved piano mastery when he was able to play Bugatti step by Jaroslav Ježek…
We made it to graduation exam here and then they broke up, I disappeared in Liberec in 1970 and he stayed in Brno. The new environment fully drew me in. After all, I am still excited about this city, and especially its surroundings.
Then came the revolution, the privatization of 1992, and our little miracle, HT-Progress. The first private vacuum heat treaatment shop in the Czech Republic. But because thanks to our French partners from Fours BMI we started to offer plasma nitriding for the French company Poclain Hydraulics in Brno, it didn’t stop there, and after an agreement with Poclain Hydraulics we established a new plant in Brno, in the Kšírová complex. And I needed a capable person for this operation.
It didn’t take long for me to remember Evžen. He was hidden somewhere in the department of forming at university VÚT and dozed there with his teaching life. We agreed, so Evžen became the director of HT-PROGRES Brno.

He stayed with us until 2006, when we started building a new greenfield on the Černovické terraces in Brno, this time under the Bodycote HT brand. We said goodbye there. I still have remorse for this. I don’t want to describe it here, it just happened and Evžen went to Hustopeče to build new plant for Thyssen, later Schmolz-Bickenbach, and today Swiss Steel. He was well trained by us 😊

If I can evaluate it retrospectively today, we would not have succeeded in Brno without Evžen. He took on his role very well, and thanks to him, we built a prosperous operation in Brno.
.. so he’s just not here anymore. I don’t know what to say, it’s not the first in our class, but since I’ve lived with Evžen for a part of my life in Liberec, I’ve been in contact with him all this time, most recently this spring. He didn’t sound happy anymore and I know why. ….
And how was he? Intelligent, reliable, friendly, just a great person. So Evžen, good luck and contentment to that heat treaters heaven…. We will go there in a moment, we, the old generation, will follow you and we’ll have a drink together
