Carebot versus metallography
Carebot is the first Czech AI-assisted image evaluation system. It can evaluate images from X-ray, CT, MMG, MRI.
Since you probably understand it like I do, the abbreviations mean:
- AI – Artificial Intelligence
- RTG – Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator, otherwise the usual X-ray
- CT – Computed Tomography
- MMG – Mammography – breast examination
- MMI – Magnetic Resonance Imaging
But it is also the first SW with AI, with an MDR (Medical Devices Regulation) certificate. This system allows you to increase the probability of correct diagnosis in many fields of medicine. How did I get to this? My wife’s daughter returned from New Zealand and immediately received a job offer at this company. So I have the story firsthand.
How is this related to metallurgy? In May, Metalco Material Testing presented the first AI-assisted hardness evaluation system. The principle is similar. A huge data set from various measurement images and selection of the optimal result using AI.
Recently I needed a metallographic evaluation of the structure and it didn’t turn out well. „Oh, we can’t do that. We don’t understand it, you have to wait until Mr. X comes back…“
And so I put the above together. I don’t know who will take it on, but it would be a big step forward. Evaluation of metallographic images using AI. Not only would the quality of the evaluation improve, but above all it would replace the lack of people with the necessary expertise. People like Vašek Kubíček from TU Liberec or Petr Brejša from Bodycote are disappearing and there are no replacements.
So I’m curious about that.
Nedávno jsem potřeboval metalografické hodnocení struktury a nedopadnul jsem dobře. “Jé, to my neumíme. Tomu nerozumíme, musíte počkat až se vrátí pan X……”
A tak jsem si výše uvedené spojil dohromady. Kdo se toho ujme nevím, ale byl by to velký krok kupředu. Hodnocení metalografických snímků pomocí AI. Nejenže by se zlepšila kvalita hodnocení, ale především by to nahradilo nedostatek lidí s potřebnou odborností. Lidé jako byl Vašek Kubíček z TU Liberec, nebo Petr Brejša z Bodycote ubývají a náhrada nepřichází.
Tak jsem na to zvědavý.
