This is how another year of the Heat Treatment Forum in Wroclaw ended. Karol Forycki’s participation in this event is incredible. Even though the number of participants is decreasing, this cannot be attributed to Karol, but to market conditions. Interest in such forms of education is decreasing, as is interest in new investments. After all, we live in a time of chaos, what more could we want? Even so, Karol manages to gather people around him who have something to say about heat treatment. And that was the main benefit of this year’s edition.
My two lectures, as usual, were a bit out of traditional ideas, but that is because after 40 years of experience in the field, I know that such a popular educational form is better than science. Not everyone needs to know how two atoms behave in a vacuum to make decisions. I was well supported in this by Thomas Kreuzaler, now from Fulcrum China, who took up the matter in a similar spirit. It is clear that the Bodycote school is working quite well.
The main surprise was the induction of Vendula Nováková from the Meduna heat treatment plant into the Hall of Excellence. I must say that it was a surprise for me too, but the choice is great. When I was at Mirek Meduna’s funeral in 2016, while still the director of Bodycote HT, it was clear to me that it would be very difficult for her. As she herself confirmed, she had to change her whole life from one day to the next, while still managing to raise her two sons. Of course, her husband Viktor helped a lot. I think that he brought financial peace to the company, which was so necessary for further decision-making. That is why the Meduna heat treatmnent plant looks completely different today than it did when Mirek Meduna built it. So big congratulations, I am glad that good work in the Czech Republic is appreciated in Poland too.
